Transitioning to School
Starting Reception is a big and exciting step, and we want every child to feel happy, confident, and ready for their new adventure. Here at Sutton Green, we create a warm, friendly environment where your child will quickly feel at home.
We work closely with families and nurseries so we can understand each child’s needs and interests, making sure their transition into Reception is smooth, positive, and full of smiles!
Our transition process involves a number of activities and events that take place;
Open days - to meet our Headteacher, have a tour of the school and meet our Reception team
Breakfast with parents - a chance for parents and children to have breakfast together in the school hall
Nursery & Pre-school visits - an opportunity for our team to visit your child in their setting and talk to their key workers
Welcome evening for parents - to provide important information before the school year begins
Stay & Play sessions - for children to come in and explore our Reception environment
Welcome letter & Teddy Bear - from your child's Class Teacher with photos of the EYFS environment
If you have any questions or concerns that you would like to discuss with our EYFS Team, SENCO or Pastoral Lead before your child begins their transition to school, we are more than happy to do this via a phone call, email or face-to-face meeting. Please find the contact details on our home page.
