Ash class have had a wonderful week of adventures. Some of our adventures included building a marble run and making our own marble runs, building swinging ropes for chimpanzees and using cook books in our 'Far Away Land' area. We have also started learning our letter sounds and have visited the school chickens.

Ash Class adventures in our learning landscape

Ash Class have been busy having their adventures in our learning landscape. We had our first Welly Wednesday this week and the children loved exploring the woods. We have also learnt how to use the ipads to take photographs of our achievements.

The children in Ash Class have settled really well into school. They have made new friends and are having lots of adventures in our learning landscape.

The children in Elm, Fir and Bay Class have settled into Year 1 and 2 so well. We are so proud of the children and look forward to the year ahead.
Year 3/4 - Designing Frames for Structures

The Year 3/4 children have had a great DT lesson. They've learnt about how frames worked when building a range of structures.
The children had a go at creating strong frames using tooth picks and clay.

Take a look at Rowan, Willow and Maple Classes on their Brakes Walk today, where they were practicing their road safety. They couldn't have picked a better day for the weather!

As part of our Movers and Shakers Project we have been learning about famous explorers and the geography of the continents and oceans.
We have been using the compass points, maps and keys.

Year 1 & 2 have been using the laptops in the computer lessons and maths.
We are enjoying logging into Doodle Maths to help us develop our maths understanding.
Football tournament- Everton Mini Kickers Y1 & 2

Pupils from Year 1 & 2 took part in the Everton Mini Kickers tournament at Vauxhalls Stadium. The children played so well as a team, for some it was their first time on a football pitch. It was a great afternoon despite the heavy rain and cold wind.

As part of our Movers and Shakers topic we are learning about famous people in History. We learnt about bridge builders.
The children designed a bridge for the goat to cross.
The only problem was that the bridge was made from newspaper!
Would it be stable? Would it be strong? How could we support it?
We folded, twisted, scrunched and rolled the paper. We then evaluated our designs to see what was successful and what needed changing.

As part of our Movers and Shalers topic we have been learning about famous Artists.
We walked around our class gallery and then discussed which paintings we liked and disliked.
We set up a still life like Paul Cezanne and studied sunflowers like VIncent Van Gogh.
We have learnt how to make the secondary olours by mixing the primary colours.
